Tuesday Fun

Our trip was extensive and busy for just two days. I took lot's of photos and wanted to include some of them here so you could enjoy my trip as well. This is one of the Pubelo's they have in Flagstaff.
The first night at our campsite. My son is lighting his first fire.

This information is placed all around the museum at the Crater. It is amazing how much information is in here. My kids had a ton of fun and we were there for about two hours walking around and enjoying the information and artifacts.

More time at the campsite after we walked around the crater. We had a guy named Eduardo that gave us a tour and it was tons of fun.

More pictures to come as I download them and get them situated. It will be a busy week as I start school again but I will slowly be putting more up there.

Back to School Extravaganza

Well it is that time of year. Parents you are probably jumping up and down as you fill your student's backpacks. New notebooks, check. Pencils, pens, paper, and Kleenex, Check. You have it all.  As a teacher, I'm planning those bulletin boards, first day activities and back to school books. I'm working on organizing the paperwork and the room just right. It is an exciting time of year, help with promises and newness. This year I will be teaching preschool for the first time and I have created my very first back to school-Meet the teacher night classroom scavenger hunt. I can't wait to see my new little ones, enjoying their first trip around the room.

Here it is in-case anyone else needs a little back to school activity. Oh yea, the best part about preschool, color and clip art on every form is a must. So, add your own border to spruce it up.

Welcome back!

Classroom Hunt
Welcome to Room #116.
Here are your clues, read each one and find that location around the room.  Once you have found that location put a sticker in that box with the answer and move onto the next clue. You may do these in any order you wish. Welcome to preschool and thanks for coming to Meet the Teacher Night.

First stop of the day. Your signature will let your student pass go. Where am I?

P.S. Don’t forget the parent packet. Please return the first week of school.

One day you’re a fireman, the next a chef, everyday is different in this little place.  What center am I?
A private room cut off from the rest, I don’t mess around in here it’s not for the best. What am I?

A special place with a date just for you. Find my location and add your name and date to a balloon.
I stand nice a tall with a few rules is all. I will help keep you and your new friends safe. What am I?
(parents-please help read them to your student.)

This special location holds my name. A bucket for me and all my daily creations.
What am I?

A special button boots me up, while the same button powers me down. You can use me to create, talk, share and learn. What center am I?
Together we make a team, we will help each other learn and grow.  Stop by me and give me a handshake, or a hug, a high-five and your name.   Who am I?
You have completed your scavenger hunt. Please make sure you picked up the parent packet and return it the First week of school. I look forward to the exciting new-year your student and I will share.

Welcome to Preschool!

Friendship Friday

This week on Friendship Friday we are discussing favorite summer meals. My favorite is a blogona sandwich, fresh Watermelon and some Pringles, because I don't have to cook anything and they are yummy.

Pink Saturday

This weekend my family and I visited the Ruins in Flagstaff and the meteor crater. It was very fun. At the crater gift shop they had the most amazing goblets. My husband and I were going to get them but we aren't at a place where we can display pretty things in our house yet. But I took a picture for everyone to see.

The second day we were in Flag there was a beautiful double rainbow and a full rainbow. This is the first time I have ever seen one.

Weekend Reflections

An exciting time of year, back to school. Yesterday my husband and I took our children shopping for new shoes for school. When I was walking out, I thought I would take a picture and see what I got. This is what I ended up with.

Weekend Enjoyment

Sunday's my husband works and it is just my kids and I. Today, I made chicken, cookies and a stuffed bear. The bear needs a little work but my five year old loved making it and it gave me an idea of how it was going to work in the classroom when I go to do it with my pre-schoolers.  My youngest had a blast.

This Sunday morning I got an extra treat my ten year old hung out with us while we made the bear and read the comics. He usually is too busy to have fun with us.

Midweek Blues

This book is fantastic. It teaches you how to live your life being a leader. Leading in your business, your life and in other endeavors you make take on. It helps you to analyze why some companies make it while others fail.  Fanatical discipline, unyielding strength and paranoia in good times and bad helps you to be a, "10xer."

The Ice Cream sandwich I enjoyed with my family on a Friday lunch.

Wish I was on this beach on vacation

Our World Tuesday

As I was walking in my house, I looked up and the blue skies of Arizona greeted me! I am one of those people that love the heat. Even this morning when it was 111 I was outside enjoying a cup of coffee and talking to friends as the world around me slept. Which was awesome because some of those people for a little while were my own children.

This was a photo from Google. Storms, Waves and Rain, never underestimate our world. Despite the storm there is a light that shines in the background. I am surrounded my comfort in knowing that no matter what our world seems to throw at us there are people that survive.

Monday

Last Monday I got the idea that I needed to do something fun with my kids, but before I could do that I needed to get some work done. I decided to go to IKEA. They have a place for the kids to play, a food court where I thought I would be able to work and then I could look for the pillows I have been looking for.
I wish

My oldest checking out the cupboards

Clothes hampers on the wall

Awesome light

Instead when I got there, My oldest was too tall for the play area and so instead of working I was able to enjoy spending time with my oldest. Which worked out even better.

These shelves would be awesome in the bathroom

Another Mailbox Teaching Tip

Quick Tip: morning work

If you're looking for an easy way to give students skill-based morning work, try this! Label each of several plastic tubs with a chosen math topic. Then stock the tubs with relevant familiar activities. Set out the tubs before students arrive in the morning, and they can get to work without interrupting your morning duties. The tubs are also convenient for volunteers to use with individual students at other times of the day.

Reflections

I've had this magazine in my car for several weeks and have been meaning to take it out of my car but haven't quite found the motivation to do so. Lucky for me I then found a fantastic blog where you can upload pictures of your weekly reflections and now this magazine was no longer an inconvenience but a fantastic blog post.

Pink Saturday

Another Fantastic Pink Saturday
Because I am off work for the summer I have been able to enjoy a weekly Friday Lunch with my grandfather. He is in his 90's and moved to AZ recently. During the school year unfortunately I don't get to see him often, so I have been taking advantage of the time.
These flowers are outside and I thought they were perfect for Pink Saturday.

This is my grandfather, my mom and my oldest

A Science Experiment

I found a really cool 1.00 science book for 2nd-3rd grade students at Target.  My youngest was up early and wanted to do one of the experiments. He preferred to grow gummy bears, but I didn't have any at hand so instead we did the ball in water spinning one.

The experiment is that you spin a rubber ball and then a tennis ball to see which one spins faster. Macen and I discussed why the rubber ball went faster.

Macen then wanted to see what happens when you put a cracker in water. Lucky for me he was willing to eat them so, they didn't get wasted. We also talked about the fact that when you tip a bowl twice, water spills.
