The new year is here

Today I woke up thinking about my New Years resolutions. I have five this year and I believe all are obtainable with a little discipline.

1. Exercise 5-6x a week
2. Read 50 books this year
3. Write 2-3x a week
4. Meditate 2x a week
5. Create something once a month

What is your New Years resolution?

Holiday Fun at School

This week at work was such fun. We enjoyed some fantastic trainings, a catered meal by a family I work with  and a little gift giving to wrap up the day. Loved this week and look forward to many more.

My Anniversary

On December 22, 2012 my husband and I celebrated our fifth year anniversary. We enjoyed some fantastic Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits, Coconut Shrimp and some Mango Tea.  It was nice and quiet. Afterwards we went to The Blooze Bar and enjoyed some fantastic music.

Oh yea, and my husband bought me beautiful earnings from Cabella's.

Holiday Treat

My sons bombarded my Husband and I on Friday to open presents early. We totally caved and let them open a gift on Friday. However, I have to say that I'm proud we have held out as long as we have. And now there will be no more gift opening until Christmas Eve night.

Holiday Fun

Yesterday my husband and I were discussing whether to purchase a new t.v. We have an older one downstairs that was my husband's grandmother. It is older but for the most part works well.  But as we have received some bonuses this Holiday season, we thought we might upgrade to a flat screen t.v.  I said we might be able to purchase one on sale for a couple hundred dollars. In the back seat of the car my five year old says, "Why buy one, I'll just ask Santa." I love that he still believes in Santa and he wants to help us save money.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
May all your wishes come true.

Mailbox Thursday

Here are some fun Mailbox activities for Christmas break to keep your little ones hands busy.

Type: craft
Science exploration and art combine to make this festive wrapping paper.
Supplies:
  • food coloring
  • vegetable oil
  • several small plastic containers
  • white copy paper
  • eyedroppers
  • rectangular pan
  • water
Setup:
Partially fill several containers with water. As students observe, add several drops of a different color of food coloring to each container and mix well. Then pour oil into a separate plastic container.
Steps:
  1. Lay the paper on a flat surface.
  2. Use eyedroppers to place several drops of each different-colored water on the paper.
  3. Use an eyedropper to drip several drops of oil on the paper, near the colored water droplets.
  4. Carefully lift the paper and hold it over the pan to allow the excess water and oil to drip into the pan. (The water and oil will run together as it runs down the paper. The two liquids won't mix, but will make interesting designs.) Set the paper aside to dry.
  5. Use the wrapping paper to wrap a special holiday present.

Type: craft
Not only is this adorable project simple, but it is also a perfect gift! To make one, glue three jumbo craft sticks together to form a triangle. Allow the glue to dry. Then paint the sticks green. After the paint dries, glue a brown craft foam rectangle to the bottom of the tree to make a trunk. Then choose an option below.
To make an ornament, tie a length of gold cord to the project to make a hanger. Crumple a piece of yellow tissue paper and then glue it to the top of the tree. Use a hole puncher to make circles of various colors. Then glue the circles to the tree.
To make a frame, cut a piece of paper the same size and shape as the tree. Glue a photo to it. Glue the paper to the back of the tree so the photo shows in the opening. Adhere magnetic tape to the back of the project.

Workout Wednesday

Thank god for sales, I was able to purchase new running gear to help improve my mood and attitude about running. Well maybe not, but I will look cute doing it at least.  Well that is before I'm sweating like a pig and breathing all heavy.  I will be redoing my 10 wall pushups challenge for slimkicker.

MidWeek Blues

A big smile at the band concert where my 11 year old shined. No photos though, too dark and too far away.

Holiday Joy: We always make popcorn balls as a family. And the rule is if you don't make them you don't get to eat them.

YUMMY, YUMMY FUN!

Day of the Race

While the girls stretched and got themselves psyched up for the big marathon, I supported from the bed and took funny photos for them to always remember.
